Kate nodded a little. "You don't seem at all like the person you're describing. Clearly you've change a lot. Which is a good thing." She offered him a smile.

"I used to be really shy when I was a teenager. Rarely spoke to anyone and always had my head in a book. But things happened that forced me to break out of my shell and take on responsibility," Kate said softly. "Im a different person now too." She placed her hand over his on instinct, but the she flushed red.

Gray managed a small smile, glancing down at her hand and then back at her. He didn't pull away, unsure if he was being polite or if he liked it. His thoughts seemed a little muddled from the beer. "Well I think you're great."

Kate laughed a little and pulled her hand away. "Well thank you." She then turned as her replacement came through the door. "My shift is over. Would it be a bother if I asked you to walk me to my car, Gray?"

"Not at all" he said, paying for his beer and stood. He slipped his black leather jacket over his shoulders and offered a grin "Ready?"

"Yep," Kate said after grabbing her purse and jacket. She walked outside with him. "Thanks for this. I get kind nervous coming out when it's dark."

"I don't think they'd do anything, but I'd rather be safe than sorry," Kate said as she walked to her car. She opened it up and slipped inside, looking up at him as she began to start her car to get the heat going. "Thank you again." But her car didnf start.

Kate leaned to check and shook her head. "No, lights are off." She tried again and the car sputtered, but still didn't start. "D*** it. Just my luck."
