PERSONALITY,
Aidan is a good man with a kind heart. He’s a little closed off, but after years of having his heart broken, he can’t help but keep himself to himself, as best he can. He’s a little loud, loving and the type of man you just want to love. He has a habit of attracting women, but of always shutting down the moment things begin to get serious. He’s guarded. He’s a little old fashioned, when it comes to the certain things, such as things women shouldn’t be made to do, like carry heavy thing, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a great deal of respect for women. Because he does. However, Aidan is a father, with a young teenage daughter. Needless to say, he can be a bit frightening, especially with teenage boys.
HISTORY,
Born in Ireland, the little town of Athlone, Aidan was brought up in a tight knit family with two parents who doted on him and his siblings, while still reminded them working their butts off for them to have good life. His family was deeply religious, or more his parents tried and tried to follow the Catholic faith, but only found it helped them produce more mouths than they were able to feed.
Despite this, and being the second eldest child of seven, Aidan had a very good and productive childhood. He developed a taste for music when he was about ten and from then on, it was the best thing he could ever ask for. His love for music also happened to attract girls and this was how he fell in love. He was twelve when he met her, a girl from a little ways away from. Her family moved them to Athlone, in hopes of getting closer, but all it did was make their daughter run astray.
Aidan started dating her when they were about fourteen. It wasn’t the type of dating you did at fourteen. He truly intended to marry her. Unfortunately, after three years of dating, Katie found out some horrible news. Her parents were moving them back to her hometown. Aidan was devastated, because she was from Northern Ireland, hours away from him. The night before they were going to leave, Aidan and Katie slept together for the last time, but the next day, she was gone. It was a Sunday and he could clearly remember it.
And he’d forever have to remember it. Aidan’s life kind of stalled after that. The loss was something he hadn’t thought would hurt so much, but it was like he’d lost a piece of himself. Aidan changed, all the songs he sang and played were of heartbreak and losing the love of his life.
But then a couple years later, when Aidan was going on twenty, studying in England, Katie resurfaced and with her, she brought a darling little girl. Their little girl. Aidan didn’t know what to do, but of course, he believed her when she told him the little one was his. She had the sweetest little voice as she told him her name and it melted his heart. Adalyn, she told him and he couldn’t help but smile.
Aidan’s life got exponentially better with Katie and Adalyn as part of it. Even though they were barely scraping by, life was good. They took trips to places that Aidan hadn’t thought he’d go to. He even married Katie, so that they could be a ‘real family’. His parents were taken with Adalyn, they adored her, doted on her, and it was like life was perfect. But Katie’s parents kept their distance, they had thrown her out after they found out she was pregnant. And the only reason it took her three years to find him again was because she knew how devout his family were. She didn’t want his life to be ruined, as well.
In their mid twenties, the married couple considered having another child, but sadly, it would be the worst decision they could ever make. When she was pregnant, Katie developed complications and, while giving birth, she sadly died. As did the baby. It was born far too early. Once again devastated, having the love of his life torn away from him, Aidan had no idea what he was going to do. But he had to be strong for Adalyn. In an irrational moment, he made the snap decision to leave Ireland and go to the United States.
It turned out to be the best move for them. Aidan opened a little coffee shop and music place in this little town that Katie’s brother actually moved to. At first, it was difficult to adjust, especially with his young daughter trying to adjust but failing miserably. But in time, things smoothed out and the two began to live like they had before.
It’s been five years since they moved and Aidan’s little shop is still going strong. The only problem he’s having is... Adalyn is attracting unwanted teenage male customers.
