Emerson had tried to orchestrate an auction, but he'd fallen ill around that time. He had to go to hospital. "Well, I think that could definitely encourage more people to view the pieces, get the names out there."
(so, just wondering, maybe Stella and Emerson become friends at some point, and she's the one who notices he's sick?)
